Making the Outsourcing Decision
The decision to outsource is not one that should be made hastily due to the potential organizational impact, the risk of business disruption, and the high cost of failure. Vertix helps clients through the entire lifecycle for both technology and business process outsourcing.
Our combination of strategic advisory and operational experience sets Vertix apart. Our management team and consultants have built and operated the functions that our clients are looking to out- or in-source. For more information on how we help clients recover when outsourcing does not deliver the promised benefits, see our services for Restructuring Outsourced Functions.
We work with our clients to define and implement the optimal in-source / outsource delivery model. If the decision is made to outsource, Vertix works closely with clients to execute an objective and efficient selection process. The key steps in the outsourcing process include:
- Creating the self-perform vs. outsource functional and financial models
- Developing sourcing strategy
- Documenting requirements and desired service levels
- Facilitating and leading vendor identification, evaluation, due diligence, and selection
- Negotiating and drafting outsourcing agreements
- Defining and implementing of vendor management, governance and operating models, as well as the new organization
- Driving transition of services
Vertix team members have executed a wide variety of outsourcing transactions including network engineering and operations, service desk/call center, application development and maintenance (ADM), deskside / LAN support, NOC, data center facilities and managed services, infrastructure services, logistics and OSS/BSS. The Vertix team recently led and advised clients through some of the largest and most complex outsourcing agreements in recent years.
For Vertix, success is not always defined by the completion of an outsourcing transaction. There are times when we recommended our clients reconsider outsourcing and provided an alternative, optimized delivery model using existing operations. Our goal is to provide the right results for our clients, based on our combined of strategic and operational experience.
In some cases previously outsourced functions are not performing as expected and we can address these issues too.
